  • Global S calibration error

During calibration of a probe this error came up. Any ideas on how to fix this?

It sounds like it's trying to go further in X than the machine is capable of. Can you move your qual sphere more towards the center of the CMM travel? That would be the easiest fix. The other option is to mess with the clearance distances under Probe Utilities Box> Setup. But this can be riskier if you don't quite understand what you're adjusting.

Sometimes we overlook the simple things. Did you tell it your calibration sphere is 25.4 when you are working in INCH units?

      How big is your prehit/retract?

This is something new when try to calibrate probes. We switched to a 2x40 and it calibrated fine but when we went back to a 1x50 the error comes up. We have plenty of room around the cal sphere so that's not an issue.Currently our machine is down due to this issue.

Looks like a corrupt probe file. Created a new probe file with a different name and all seems to work correctly.

Sometimes PCDMIS defaults the artifact position to an older location for sequential probe angles even after you've set your A0B0 master. This happens most noticeably after the pc have a power failure.

Clicking Reset Tips in the probe menu usually solves this issue and most other issues attributed to a corrupted probe file without having to recreate your entire probe file.
