  • Program to New CMM

    Hello,
I am sure I am missing something here.

I am trying to setup and run parts on my new CMM . It is running PC DIMS 2019 R1. I am taking the programs and CAD files from an older CMM that is still currently running these parts. This one is running 2012 MR1 PC DIMS. The problem I am having is that when open a program it is using or still referring to the probes that were in the old CMM. It does not see the probes that are in the new CMM.

Anyone have an idea or 2.

yeah, if the probe files are not named exactly the same on the new one as they are on the old one, you will have to either re-name the files on the new one or edit each program on the new one to what the probe is on the new one.

I did try and rename it. I then SAVED and closed then reopened to find no change . It is still showing the probes that came from the other CMM. I was trying to be proactive and get the probe built and all necessary angles entered and calibrated .Now when I open up a program and highlight the probe and F9 it shows that probe but with no Angles or probe being defined.

did you define the angles? Just making a new probe file doesn't automatically add the angles.

Best bet, find where the probe files are stored on the OLD one, COPY them all, then paste them where the new one stores them.

Open DMIS. Edit / Set Search path / Probe Files / Navigate to the proper folder / Apply

EDIT \ SEARCH PATH \ PROBE DIRECTORY . Check the box for ( check this directory )
              C:\BladeRunner \pc dims programs \PROBES
              Hit APPLY

This is the error message I am getting ( Could not locate the specified directory C:\BladeRunner \pc dims programs \PROBES )

Do the spaces and mis-spelling of DMIS exist only in your post, or in the actual folder path name? Have you verified that such a path actually exist? Do note that PC-DMIS will not create the path for you, it has to exist.

Maybe you don't have enough rights to write on C: ?

This is where you should direct it in the set search path. Use the pull down for and select Probe directory

EDIT \ SEARCH PATH \ PROBE DIRECTORY

                  (C:\Users\Public\Documents\Hexagon\PC-DMIS\2017 R2\ )

Find current version installed. Mine is 2017 R2
Time for the Trolls to leave.
