  • Confused with Xactmeasure

    My alignment is:
    - level Y- and X,Z origin to cylinder
    - rotate X+ to plane
    - Y origin to circle
    Need to check position of CIR 1 to A [M], B, C[M].
When I look at customized DRF, Xactmeasure is showing:
    - cylinder (datum A) controlling x,y,u,v - why not x,z,u,w ?
    - plane (datum B) controlling w - why not v ?
    - circle (datum C) controlling z - why not y ?

    I am working with CAD.

No idea, but it shouldn't be doing that...

there is a pecking order Primary is always ZPLUS and Rotation is always XPLUS, so your Y becomes Z and your X is X and Y is Z. You might want to create an alignment in the correct order of your callout, or it can get very confusing.

I'm not sure that is true anymore - just today, I saw a FCF TP where the primary was clearly labeled Y in the yellow-blu trihedron. The current alignment also had Y as primary, maybe that is involved?

I don't know about the newest versions but for older :

Create an alignment to the datum features.
In the Xactmeasure Advanced tab - tick box /drop down menu - USE CURRENT ALIGNMENT

          ^^^ this.
(for me the above stands for new or old Xact) and as Kirb and the Help states..... Xact is kind of a 'rotation to X+' traffic cop. Midplane as secondary in a non-X+ vector has blindfolded & spun me off the dwg GD&T many times. (that **** yellow trihedron)
Use Current Align (or fall back to legacy) then..... that might make the world finally make sense
