  • Stylus joint / kuckle 0-90deg help

In the box o'probes that came with our Leitz CMM came with a stylus joint that moves from 0 to 90 degrees. This would have been a perfect solution to an issue I have, but i can't figure out how to use it. If I put it on the 20x20 star cube and tighten it, unless it is at 0 degrees, there's now way to force it to have the attached stylus parallel to the Z axis. Basically, I get the right angle from stylus tip to joint bend, but the angle of the screw end of the joint isn't lining up so that the probe tip can be at 90,90. Am i missing an obvious thing here, or is this not intended to work the way I thought? Pics attached. In the pic with the stylus, the probe tip is supposed be parallel with the auto change rack to get me the right angle for this project. Thanks!

You can buy a rotary to go under that so you can rotate it around. Something like this https://qmarkdirect.com/epages/9aa7a.../Products/3052

What I did in the past was make paper shims to go under it. They have enough give that you can tighten them up at least an eighth of a turn after they get a bit tight. You can stack several if necessary to get the rotation you want. It's a bit of a hack, but it worked for me.
