  • acceleration/Deceleration probe deflection/air hit 7.10.7 SF

I've recently encountered some probe deflection and air hit issues particulary in A90B180/ A90B-180. The CMM is a Hexagon SF 7.10.7 the probe set up is a HP-X-1H and the Styli used at the time of the issue is a 2x40mm.

I haven't noticed before until now as the probe is moving and coming to a stop there looks to be a small "shutter" or moving back and forth before completely stopping. You can't tell this unless your staring at it pretty close. Is this normal?

A few things i've tried is reducing acceleration from 1500ms to 1000 and then to 800. No change still get random occurrences.

    not normal

step 1, CLEAN THE MACHINE, including the scales.

Turn FLY mode off and watch again. Out of curiosity what are your probe settings in your program?

      MOVESPEED
      TOUCHSPEED
      FASTPROBEMODE
      FLY

I've seen this on every machine I've touched (mainly Globals and SF models) but the one that takes the cake on most extreme are the SF models, it's hilarious!

Kp61dude! yeah its really strange to say the least.

        Here's my settings

        Movespeed 300
        Touchspeed 2
        FastProbemode on
        Fly on

Matthew D. Hoedeman Yes fully cleaned this morning, just waiting for another occurrence now.

What are your Opt.Probe settings? If the values are set too low/sensitive, you might be detecting hits when inertia is applied.
Not sure if SF can get fabreekas installed: but just to be sure, do you have any vibration isolation on the machine?

Turn FLY off and watch the behavior of your machine change.

Just an update, For now the "air hits" are gone not exactly sure what fixed this, but it was fixed after the full clean and calibration. However the "Shutter movements" are still there i can see this being an issue if i was trying to take a hit perpendicular to a plane really close. im going to try to take a short vid to show exactly what it looks like, but again just to explain if its moving full speed to take a hit the moment it stops to start going into a prehit it will shutter and move back and forth, then take the hit as normal.

How did the machine react to FLY OFF?

No difference in the "shuttering" with Fly on or off
