  • Calibration Start and End Angles for disk probes

    Again I am new for disk probes is there a preferred angle range being they are not spherical it puzzles me.

    I have an 8mm disk and I have my start angle at -5 and end angle at +5.

      on a 25mm disc I went with -3 and +3.

    If your disk probe is really a slice of a cylinder you have a problem. PC-DMIS assumes the disk is a slice of a sphere.

      hello

      you can use this calculation to figure out ur start-end angle.

      example:

      18mm disc dia x 2mm thick
      Calibrate using only 70% of the disk thickness (out of square comp.)

      2mm x .70 = 1.4mm

      half of 70% thickness
      1.4mm / 2 = .7mm
      Half probe dia.
      18mm/2=9mm
      Calculate the angle from horizontal center line to half disk thickness

      SineA= .7/9
      A=4.4º

      Start angle -4.4º
      End angle 4.4º

        nice, I actually made a drawing of my disc and sphere to figure out what angle contact at the corner of the disc starts, then scaled back a bit. This approach simplifies it
