  • Probe Utility Dialog issues

I am experiencing a strange issue in PC-DMIS 2019 R1, a recent upgrade for us from 2013. When I first open the Probe Utility Dialog, it opens up fine. As soon as I click the "Add Angles..." button, the Probe Utility window jumps halfway off the top of screen. I then cannot move the Probe Utility Dialog window back down onto the screen because I cannot reach its title bar. I will attach screenshots, of before and after clicking the button, to this post. I have found the "ProbeUtilitesDlg" setting in the Settings Editor that allows me to get the window back onto the screen when I close and open it back up, but it still jumps off the top of the screen every time I click that button. And if I just close the window and open it up without going into the Settings Editor, it will open up to the "off-screen" position. I would like to find a method or workaround that keeps the Probe Utility window on the screen, without opening up the Settings Editor every time I need to add angles to my tip list. Any help or ideas will be much appreciated!

When it moves off the screen like that, go into the Control Panel on Windows. Click Display. Click Adjust Resolution. Change the resolution to something lower. This will move all the windows around on the screen. From here you should be able to drag it to a usable place on the screen. Then turn the resolution back up and hope it doesn't happen again! This method should work for any window that is off the screen, and I prefer it because you don't have to close PC-DMIS down to go into the settings editor

I will give this a try, thanks! That does sound like a quicker workaround than opening the settings editor.

I see the same thing happening when the Probe Utilities window is placed too far down on the screen. PC-DMIS wants to put the "Add angles" window just under the Utilities window, and when it doesn't fit weird things happen. Try leaving the Utilities window as high up as possible, while still completely visible, and see if there's room for the "Add angles" window below it. Otherwise you'll need higher vertical resolution on your screen.
