  • Steel Cal Sphere for HP-S-1X Scanning Head?

Good Morning, the operators bumped my ceramic cal sphere with a part and broke the sphere off the post. Can I use the steel cal sphere from my 454 SF to calibrate the probes on my Tigo?

Yes. Just add tool under measure probe utility and define the new sphere.

You're welcome. Had the ceramic sphere quoted from Hex a couple of years ago, needless to say they are quite proud of those spheres...$1971.00

OMG, I was wondering what the price would be. Does it have to be a ceramic sphere? because its a scanning head? Is roundness better on a ceramic than steel?

You're environment plus the tolerances you are working with would generally drive the answer to that. If you have a high grade steel sphere and keep it rust-free, you should be fine. Our Hex tech uses a steel sphere for the scanning tests when he does our ISO calibrations.

Would it be a good idea to re run the lower matrix?

If they crashed the machine, yes.
