  • Set Search Path data file

I've got several operators who run the CMMs on off shifts. I've got my search path set to a different file folder than PCDMIS defaults to on installation. Is there any way I can set the search path up for each operator without having to log on under each operator's Windows 10 user name and password?.

I've been able to set up their toolbars by copying my file folder found under "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Hexagon\PC-DMIS\2017 R2" and pasting it into their file folder. I thought surely the set search path info ought to be contained there too but it doesn't appear to be.

There's got to be a "set search path" file somewhere if everyone can set theirs up different. Right?

The search path is stored in the Windows Registry, key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hexagon\PC-DMIS\<version>\Option\DefaultPartProgram so there's no simple way to fill it in without being logged in as the right user. With enough admin rights you can edit other ueser's Registery entries, but that's normally on the Network Super Admin level…

If all the operators should have the same search path, you could discuss with IT to have them automatically read/execute a certain xxx.REG file at login. An xxx.REG file can be created with REGEDIT.EXE, exporting only the above mentioned key. IT may be reluctant to let you have write access to such a file, though, as it is a potential security break...

@Andersl - we are running PC-DMIS 2021.2, and looking in the registry mentioned above there is no DefaultPartProgram. How can I get PC-DMIS to install one there?
      thanks,
