  • 7.10.7 SF CMM, Jogbox issue?

    Good morning,

Please let me start by telling you how I have already tried to fix this issue; I have tried holding enable + the three directional buttons to reset the Jogbox, I have tried a hard restart of the machine and I have unplugged / opened the Jogbox (made sure everything was properly connected).

My CMM is traveling (at a very rapid pace) in the Y+ direction when just holding enable. I believe the issue may be with the potentiometer inside of the Jogbox. I, however, do not know how to fix that.

My thought is to order a new Jogbox. Is this a correct assessment? Are there any other 'tricks' I should try first?

    CMM: 7.10.7 SF (Shop Floor)
    Jogbox: Model # H007422/C

    Thank you!

We have had this happen in the X direction and it ended up with an amplitude error, machine wouldn't turn on. The first, easy, and quick solution was to clean the scale. That worked for a short amount of time. Then we had Hexagon come out, they replaced a motor. It was never our jogbox. We've got the same machine down again for another motor.

Try cleaning your Y scale, it is a SF model after all. You will probably need a new jogbox or motor.

I cleaned the Y Scale (WOW! It was bad (new to this lab, not to programming or CMM's)). It is still traveling in Y+ when you hold enable, although a bit slower now. There is a very noticeable 'jerky-ness', almost like a pulsing when trying to move it is Y- that is more noticeable now.

Also, I just reset the Jogbox, did a hard re-start, it is no longer moving when you hold enable! I appreciate the suggestion of cleaning the scales, it didn't even dawn on me to check them!

Thank you all for the assistance this morning. Hope your day is great!

Hortiz85 Glad I could help, but keep an eye on things. That may be a sign that things are wearing out. Or it was just that dirty. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

That's what I figured. I've got a quote for one, was making sure I wasn't overlooking something. Thank you!
