Is there a limit to the amount of calibration parameter sets I can make? I don't want to "run out of room" for them one day. I asked the Hex guy when i was there for training and he didn't know.
I'm asking because we just started using autocalibrations...so we're using parameter sets.
I want to come up with a bank of commonly used angles & make those sets..keep it to maybe a dozen or so sets in total per probe file. A guy who I work with wants to make a parameter set for each and every program (regardless if its a duplicate set..literally even if its just A0B0). IF we go his route, I'm hoping we won't run out of space one day
At my previous job I created a set for every program and never had issues with storage limit.. I understand creating "master sets" but never went that route.
I added auto calibration at the beginning of every program and reported results to the top of the report.
I also added a skip calibration in case something messed up and the op needed to run part again.
Space limits never crossed my mind on this topic... neither did windows file explorer on how many folders you can 'drill' into to, though I don't recall the count, it does have a limit... it was a very strange setup and never seen anything else like it. I would assume it's a PC storage limit as it's stored as files on your drive and PcDmis only points to them therefore I wouldn't worry about it personally. Make as many as you possibly can and report back...if it's just like our FLAGS here...no limit.
We currently have about 3500 part numbers that have programs. Eventually, some lucky soul will be volun-told to add auto cal commands to all of them... I don't want them to get to their 999th parameter set and then have the demon tell them to go pound sand when they try to make #1000
What you're saying makes a lot of sense and makes me feel better.
However, I was hoping for someone to tell me something conclusively before I submit a help ticket HEX get them to legit answer this since it will really be driving our methodology going forward
DAN_M Why would you need so many parameters sets? Can't you just calibrate all the probes and probe angles in your probe rack with one program? Do you use probes are not in the probe rack? I heard some people have like a 6 hour run time for the cal program so they do perform them once a week at night. That may not be your case.
We have multiple machines, fortunately only one machine is set up like this. It is our little 454 on the floor. The other I use is a nice new 7107 with a rack
We have two machines that we use on the floor to run production parts. For calibration, there is a program that utilizes the 'auto calibrate' feature...
I have 2 Global S Chrome 05.07.05 machines that use a HH-A-T2.5 with a HP-S-X1H scanning module that I need some help with. I set both of these machines...
Is it possible to do a parameter set to calibrate two different probe builds (1.5 x 30 and 8 x 21mm) that are used in one program that is run in protected...
are there any in depth instructions out there on how to create parameter sets properly? I believe mine are corrupted somehow and I want to recreate them...
