I am really struggling with scanning
    I have a profile I need to scan on a recessed O.D.
I have tried all the different types of scanning and cannot seem to find a solution
its an odd shape and I'm just wanting the probe to go in and follow the shape of it and compare it to the model.
    any help?

    Have you tried Perimeter scan?

Yes and I can’t seem to get it to do it
Maybe I am doing something wrong?
It’s very difficult to get support and I haven’t found the help index useful.

when using open and closed scans make sure your z height on yours start, direction and end points are all the same and that you have all the surfaces slected that are between your start and end points and make sure your on nullfilter and defined , findnons and your boundary type is plane

Will these settings you just described work on the contour shown in the pic?

ya should and make sure you do what kirbster pointed out as well

highlight the surfaces to be scanned, and unhighlight the ones that you are not, before generating points, also you might have to add crossings or subtract them

not to be rude, but how much do you know about scanning?, Honesty will get you everywhere, dishonest will get you nowhere. I can provide step by step pictures, really don't want to, but I will.

ok give me a few. I'll make a linear open example.

linear close seems to be graphing great. found my issue to be the point density was set too high.
I lowered it and now its contouring around it nicely.
was set at.1 and I dropped it to .005! huge difference!

            I use Nullfilter,
First Tab these are my Settings.

            Capture.JPG

Then of course Choose your Start, Direction, and End Points

            Capture2.JPG

Once you placed them on your Cad Model, double click on the 1 on your boundry points, here you want to set the depth of all 3 points the same, Maybe it's in X, maybe Y, or maybe Z.

            Capture3.JPG

Then Go to the next Tab, Graphics Click on Select, Go Highlight your surfaces

            Capture4.JPG

Then You can go To Settings, Choose what favors you and hit apply, Mine I setup in Settings Editor so they always stay these numbers by default.

Yeah, my density is set to 0.002" (0.050MM) for EVERYTHING I scan. Your density value was too high, density was too low.

I'm using probe SP25. It should use continues scanning instead single points scanning. What should I switch to have real scanning?
