  • Excel form report not working in 2019 r1 sp2

    Good morning everyone,

I had installed PC-DMIS 2019 R1 SP1 in April and was trying to play around some of the new features that are added such as "excel form report", "GD&T selection from file" etc. I was successful experimenting all and they were working. I had a "point auto trigger" issue on SP1 as it was not working . I heard from Tech support that it was a bug that was fixed in SP2.

The excel form report was working flawless for few days and then suddenly it started to crash my program every time I try to add the command into the program. I made a shorter new program and tried it and still crashing. I got SP2 installed as an administrator today and still the same thing is happening. I do not know why it stopped working and still not working. Can anyone help me to find any file related to this issue that is missing from the installation? or any tab I can look into the setting editor to update? Your help is appreciated.

    Works for me in 2019 R1 SP2, build #375

Has anything in Office been updated (Excel, for example)?
Has IT updated any security policies?
Have you looked in the antivirus logs - maybe something important has been deleted as "suspicious" - false positives in the AV is a plague...
Have you changed PC-DMIS to run as Admin (or back to Normal) - could be an access rights error?
    Does Excel still work?
Do you have Excel running when you insert the line, try without if so (and vice versa)

      Hello Andresi,

Yes, Excel still works without this.
      No, excel is not updated.
No, security policies are still same.
No, my antivirus has neither deleted anything from the downloaded setup file nor from the installed files.
I don't have excel running when inserting the line. I tried other way and still not working.
No, I have not change PC-DMIS to run as admin or back to normal. I am running PC-DMIS as a normal user. I know 99.9% of you guys are running as an admin and the previous guy on this job was also running as an admin but the company has been taken over and they have their "OWN POLICIES" that don't want to provide me admin rights on my station for "SECURITY REASONS" smh.

I had a remote sessiona t CMMXYZ with Trevor Mclaughin and we even tried from the admin account in case that is an issue but it still crashes as an administrator as well. He has filed it to hexagon and we will see how it looks.

As per him, there was an issue in SP1 for excel form report crashing but it did work for me for few days and suddenly crashing pc-dmis even in SP1 and SP2 as well.

        Update:

We have tried to install pc-dmis in one of our other cad station as all cad station that i use and design engineers use have same spec. It did work over there perfectly and i made some reports as well. However when i tried to open it today (this is the 2nd day i am using pc-dmis after installation), it started crashing. What i have noticed is there are 3 errors i have received that are similar to what i was getting on my original station. I get error code 3 and error code 7 when i try to save the program. Also when i try to create a new program, i get an error message saying "UNABLE TO WRITE REGISTRY. PLEASE VERIFY THAT YOU HAVE WRITE PERMISSIONS FOR THIS OPTION: Section=Option Key=Include TempCompInNewRoutines Value=FALSE". i double checked with it department and nothing has changed since yesterday. FYI, I am not running PC-DMIS as ADMIN but I have pc-dmis installed as ADMIN. I am attaching screenshots of the errors. What are error code 3 and 7?

Consult your IT dept to enable you to run as administrator. Not doing so will cause a lot of problems with permissions

It's not. There were a few versions where it was necessary but in later versions, that's all sorted.

If the readme file there are full details of what directories and keys of the registry you do need access to.

Using scripts and excel macros in my programs I get crashes or permissions issues all the time (when I'm not running as admin), I use 2019 R1

Also, whenever I put in a tech support ticket for a bug (software versions 2015-2019), that is always on the list of things they ask to verify. I'll ask them next time about it though
