  • Trying to figure out the best way to report true position.

Hello, been using PC-Dmis for a few months now but the guy training me retired so I don't have anyone here to help me. I have been using Xact Measure for reporting true position. Should I try to use Legacy instead? I was just wondering what most people are using? Thanks

The old school guys use legacy. You can use either one but I prefer Xactmeasure.

IMHO legacy is a bit more straight forward on the report. Xactmeausre can be confusing with things like true position with the datum shift reporting.

On later versions Xact gives a better implementation of the standards.

Legacy can't really handle (M) or (L) on datums (it gives 'bonus' not datum shift)

If you don't have (M) or (L) on your datums and you understand the GD&T (in terms of controlling degrees of freedom etc) Legacy with best-fit alignments is a good solution.

I agree with the above. If you do not have modifiers, use legacy. If you have modifiers, use Xact.

Xact is a little more involved to set up bu, with modifiers, it gives you a more accurate dimension.

Thanks guys, I think I might try using legacy and see how it goes.
