  • tip calibration stall

Today while running a normal tip calibration the machine stopped after some of the probe rotations, this was not good because it had not finished up before the morning runs.

What do you mean stopped. False trigger? Is the probe light on? Did it just end the calibration? What did the pop up say?

I have had a few times where I use DCC+DCC and the first four initial hits it takes to center the ball at certain angles. It would take 1 maybe 2 out of the 4 hits then stall. I would just do a total reboot, home the machine and the hiccup was gone.

Maybe this is related to your false hits post.
Is it the same stylus setup?
Do you have a spare probe head to try?

I just hit continue and it finished but it happened around five times.

do you have probe enable button switched off? so I recently got a scanning probe (if I recall correctly you have the same one I do, a Leitz LSPX1H_T) and learned that the "probe enable" button we once knew would effectively disable the probe's touch detection, is now a probe "rebalance" toggle, and must ALWAYS be illuminated on when running.

Oh click and continues? Older machines usually don't rotate around the ball so good. Set your Prehit Retract a little higher. I have a Brand spanking new machine, and I have an older Brown&Sharpe early 2004, I believe. Same Program, Same Setup, Same Calibration ball, New CMM, No problems, Calibration fine, all good nice and smooth around the ball. The older one, kinda square going around the ball, has barley bumped across the ball stopping progress. Have to turn the prehit and retract up a tad. Grandpa don't make it around the corners like he used to.

been running the same program for a year and not had any issues, the machine is a 3 year old global and I am using .050 prehit the probe is not hitting the sphere it rotates to the next position and sometimes stops.

Tesastar M? or T5? T2.5?. Reason I ask the 5 degree knuckles are shaky as h_e_l_l, when rotating, the 2.5 is a lot smoother
