I have had PC-DMIS shut down on me 5-6 today for no reason. I am trying to program a part and just when I think all is good, BOOM, shuts down. I get the little message about needing to Shut Down. The biggest problem is that it is doing it so often that I end up having to open the latest autosaved copy, then start from there. Man I hate that.
Just needed to vent.
I have the same thing happen in 3.5mr2 but not as much. One thing I did notice is that if you delete from the top down it shuts down, also if you have allot of other stuff running in the back ground it might contribute to the shut downs. Just bit the bullet and switched to 3.7mr2 and it seems to be more stable! just my two cents worth.

I can get 3.7 but our SMA expired before any of the MR's came out for it. I dont think they will for over the $$$ to update yet. I just started here ad before I got here this machine only had 3 programs on it. I have been here since Thanksgiving and am close to 100 programs already. Alot of small stuff here. I have been reading that 3.7 isn't stable enough without the MR's.
I have notice that when it craches it is usually whenI am deleteing things.
Thanks, I would like to think my little lock nest monster would swim in the pond. Congradulations on the senior member statis rebeldude!!. Have a good holiday

BEFORE you delete, do a DOUBLE <CTRL>S (hold the CTRL key down, hit the 'S' key twice) and it will usually keep you from being kicked out. Also, as mentioned, delete from the bottom up, don't start in the middle. Also, make sure that you are not deleting features and leaving associated dimensions in the program. Also, don't try to delete MORE than 2 or 3 'screen pages' of program at a time. Also, I try to leave the LAST feature and dimension in the program until the last delete. If you can follow all this, do it all, all the while you are holding your left leg out at a 33.27 degree angle AND while humming "Up in Smoke" by Cheech and Chong, you should be able to delete quite well.
Well, actually, you don't need to hum, but it's just like professional base ball players, ya do something once and it works, you are afraid to NOT do it the next time, so.......
Seriously, Limit the amount of stuff you are deleting at one 'delete', delete from the bottom up, and the double <CTRL>S just before hitting the DEL key will help quite a bit. Also, believe it or not, it will puke less often if instead of hitting the DEL key (LIKE YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO) if you click on EDIT ~ DELETE ~ SELECTION it works about 9,000 time better, it will only crash about 10% as often as you hitting the DEL key. Go figure, Pcdmis tells you DEL is the short-cut key for EDIT ~ DELETE ~ SELECTION.

What I was doing the most of this time when it crashed was after a Point the probe would hit going to the next move. I would put in a move point and WHAM. Shut Down city. I am not sure why that was happeneing but then again who knows what happens with PC-DMIS.
