I had problems with a HASP driver and 3.2. I tried all of the usual, -r, -i but it did nothing. I had to get the latest driver and use that one to uninstal (I was using the older hinstal.exe) once I uninstaled with a new .exe I could instal no problem.

I was not getting the same error as you but it might be worth a shot if you haven't done it already.

        Don,

Yes, yes, yes and yes. This is what I FINALLY had to do, I really don't understand it, but it worked. B & S had installed Ver 4.0. The client hated it and wanted to go back to 3.7 MR3.

I uninstalled 4.0 (saving my regfile and other goodies)
When I tried to install 3.7, I did so to the default PCDMISW folder, thats when it wouldn't use , or "see" the hasp driver. I tried to install 3.7 to the default folder that 4.0 used and everything was just "Peachy"...Don't that beat all ?

It makes no sense to me, but it worked.Hopefully this might help (or confuse) the next person with the same issue, but still bizarre....

Don, any ideas why this happened ? So I can understand it better ?

You can (almost) never get everthing out of the registry when you un-install any software package. I'll bet that somewhere, some place in the registry, there were still links to the Pcdmis you un-installed. I un-installed a couple things on a different computer here, then did a search through the registry and stopped looking after I had found a dozen items still pointing to what I un-installed.

I agree with Matt, there was probably some residual information that was confusing things, in the registry or even just residing on the PC in one of the folders involved. We may never know what it actually was.

Sometimes you can try a registry rollback. XP has a utility to save and restore the system at certain points in time. This is always good to keep in mind for future reference.
