  • star probe.. which one to get?

    Good morning.

I am in need to get a star probe for one of our parts. I was looking through the renishaw book and other star probe threads and realize that they come in 2 versions. Which version should I get? The star styli (fixed) or the 5 way stylus centers and add stylus? i read in another thread that the fixed is harder to square up because the tips are not able to rotate.

I'd get the 5 way. That way you can create different types as needed.
When in doubt, post code. A second set of eyes might see something you missed.

      Agree with John.

Get two, so you have a spare one.

I would go with 3 of them. If one gets trashed you will be on pins and needles until the replacement comes in. I don't believe the 5 way post and body are that expensive
