Why when using autoplane does the probe tip seem to bounce into the direction of the plane (about 1-2 MM drop) after taking the last hit on the plane? It comes very close to crashing on the part each time. Is there something to toggle or change to stop this?

    Move before or after setting?
    Lately, it occurs to me
What a long, strange trip it's been.

Check out your move right after the autoplane is done like John said, or check your clearance plane, it could be too close to your part thus giving you some strange looking stuff when your done with the autoplane.

        Try to check:
        Prehit and Retract parametr.

        type from keyborard:

        PREHIT/ 7
        RETRACT/ 7

or click F10 >Motion>Prehit Distance & Retract Distance
sigpiclearn to fly, fly to live, or die...

Check and see if you have AUTOMOVE turned on with a small value. The automove is a set distance from the nominal position that the probe will move to before and or after the hit. If it is less than your prehit/retract value PLUS the probe radius, it will actually move closer to the part after the end of the retract move.

Thanks guys! Automove was not "on" but I put it on and set value to 10. Problem went away. Today I might not need any tylenol while working with the CMM......
