  • Material Thickness

    Ok I'm measuring a C chanel,I need to measeure the inside width distance
    and I'm taking points on the outside of the surface,since I can't reach the inside in my program I'm subtrating the Material thickness by offsetting
    the actual mat'l thick,now I know that for the next run the mat'l thick will be diferrent because the tolerance is ±.004 and I do not want to be changing my program to the actual mat'l thick.Is there a command in Pc dmis Where I can insert a comment to the operator asking to insert the actual Mat'l thick,then the program will take that actual reading and compensate the off-set.I guess it can be a go/to type of thing.Please advice.

    You SHOULD be able to do this with a variable. Then use the variable for the stock thickness.

      You can use "comment, input" to type in the material thickness for everypart at the beginning of the program. Whatever the comment input's label is such as" C2, you can put in for your offset point's amount to offset, but you must put it in as "C2.input" for it to work correctly. Each time you run the program, it will read the new input that you put in for the material thickness in each of the offset points that you have put "C2.input" into.         Materila thickness

        I'm still trying to make work.I'm trying to put it together,I tried to send you a email,but it did not go thru because the company I'm working maybe they block it out,Please whenever you have time send a sample try may email at work. [email protected]

            where you have offset, then the number 0.116, instead of 0.116, put in C1.input

            You may have to put C1.input*

            Tell me if that fixes it. Remember, you will have to put the C1.input in all offset spots.

              Ok,It's working,but when I input the material and I been chaging it to test the program,it will change automatically in the off-set alignment,but it will not up-date the output inspection report automatic,it will update it only if I edit the alignment and I see the change in the off-set then hit ok,then it will ask me that the new alignment will change the commands below I hit ok, and then it will change the actual value to compensate the input material thk.
