  • probe Re Qualification

I am trying to qualify 3 different probes
    1. 2 mm diameter probe 20mm long
    2. 1mm diameter star probe on a 20mm extension
    3. 5mm diameter probe on a 50mm extension

I calibrate the first probe A0B0 saying the sphere has moved then no to the other 2

I then measure a 40mm diameter with the 2mm probe at A90B180 and I datum the 2mm probe in x,z

I then measure the same diameter with the 1mm star probe and 5mm probe but I get the x,z readings as x = 0.021 and z= 0.009 in relation to the 2mm probe ... no matter what I try I cant get the 1mm and 5mm probe the same as the 2mm probe

Please help ...... Just had the Mistral CNC UKAS calibrated

From your description it's not obvious that you actually calibrate the A90B180 angle, too, but if you do and still see this problem I would suggest something is loose, or the ruby sphere on the 2 mm tip damaged.

What's your probe setup? Analog or TTP (tp20) with probe changer?

Is Std dev Ok on all probes and angles?

Is a part alignment defined before measuring the diameter and switching probes?
