  • Dimensioning

    I am using version 4.1

    I want to dimension a profile scan of a surface and report only the max deviation from the nominal solid cad model, whether it be positive or negative result.
    Whichever is greater.

    I thought min max would do this, but actually it still reports the total variation as the measured amount.

    Anyone have another method for reporting this?

    If you just want the maximum deviation from nominal you could assign a variable to the max deviation and simply report that

    DIM PROF1= PROFILE OF LINE OF SET SCN_IOF_1 FORMANDLOCATION UNITS=MM ,$
    GRAPH=OFF TEXT=OFF MULT=50.00 OUTPUT=BOTH
    AX NOMINAL +TOL -TOL MEAS MAX MIN DEV OUTTOL
    M 0.000 0.050 -0.050 0.023 0.013 -0.010 0.023 0.000 -----#---
    ASSIGN/MAX_DEV = PROF1.MAX
    COMMENT/OPER,NO,MAX_DEV

    This would bring up the result in an operator comment.

    If you wanted to dimension it you could assign that value to a generic feature then dimension it that way, i.e.

    PROF1_GEN =GENERIC/POINT,DEPENDENT,RECT,$
    NOM/XYZ,0,0,0,$
    MEAS/XYZ,MAX_DEV,0,0,$
    NOM/IJK,0,0,1,$
    MEAS/IJK,0,0,1
    DIM LOC9= LOCATION OF POINT PROF1_GEN UNITS=MM ,$
    GRAPH=OFF TEXT=OFF MULT=50.00 OUTPUT=BOTH
    AX NOMINAL +TOL -TOL MEAS MAX MIN DEV OUTTOL
    X 0.000 0.050 -0.050 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.000 -----#---
    END OF DIMENSION LOC9

    Hope this helps
