  • Simple measurement question, need alittle help...

Say I'm measuring the width of a box. If I use 2d distance between 2 planes, the result is the shortest distance between the planes. What if a portion is oversize, the oversize area does not show out of tolerance. Is there a better way to measure this?
    Thanks...

Well, if you are measuring the width of a box, do a line on each side, then a line on each end, interesect the corners, then do a distance of the intersection points, that will give you the width at each end of the box.

Did you ever try the max/min feature?

If it's simple, I'd agree that a 3D distance and min/max is the easy route. After that, you can get as complicated as you want to find the truth.

couldn't you just level on one side and measure the other at top bottom left and right? or maybe at the four corners? Does your print specify the datum plane?
