  • Probe changer woes

Had to come back in tonite to re-calibrate the probe rack (MCR20) and even after calibration it was off in the Z height by 3mm. I had recalibrated the rack earlier this afternoon and didn't check my work and it kept crashing for the guys on 2nd shift.

I tried re-calibrating it 4 times before I started to edit the Z height. The X locations were dead on. Any ideas on why 3mm. The probe is a 2mm ruby. Just doesn't make any sense.

I have found the hard way that you must use a 2x20 and you must have probe comp either on or off, (I don't remember which and am at home so I can't check). I believe it tells you in the Renishaw manual and possibly somewhere on the screen when you go thru the dcc calibration of the rack routine. Either case Probe comp is your problem. If you don't have the hard copy of the Renishaw manual anymore, I bet you can find it online. HTH
