Not impressed with PC-DMIS

During training in Elgin,IL the software had mutiple errors and the computors
where locking up. The instructors repeatedly had problems making functions work!

When I got back to the shop I started playing with PC-DMIS and as in class
I had my PC locking up and some functions would not work.

PC-DMIS for offline No-Cad programming is basically useless.

Where's the Code programming training, screw programming from a Cad
Model. Most Cad Models are not dimensionally up-to-date anyway!

I can offline program a part program as fast (if not faster) in MeasureMax
then can be done in PC-DMIS.

Don't get me wrong, there are some excellent functions in PC-DMIS, it would
be nice if the software as a whole worked, and would also target the offline Non-Cad programmer like myself.

I think I'm going to drop PC-DMIS and go back to MeasureMax, a much easier
software to use and it's error free!

Is your computer powerfull enough? PC-DMIS is a resource hog?

Did you buy the offline seat?

That isn't the softwares fault, that is whoever is handling the cad model. As for training, did you ask questions about coding without cad?

I think you had your mind made up before going. If you post some good examples of a problem, some of us may be able to help you.

Keep an open mind before condemning something. (I never have cad)

MM is a Sheffield product now own by Heagon (Pc dmis). Most likly MM is in a maintance mode and not being developed. Will be puhed out by Pc-Dmis .

Yes, we have a Offline Seat.

The offline training i've gone to had all the same (and more) problems
that the beginner training had.

The offline training still used a Cad model to develope your program.

Most of our customers do not have Cad models.

The programming i've done with PC-DMIS seemed to have way to many steps to accomplish the objective unlike MeasureMax and the PC lockups were
just erritating.

And yes, we have new PC's: Dell 3.0Gz, Duel Core, 2 gig Ram, 23" LCD.

I'll keep pluggin along.

I like V3.7MR3 BETA.
If you are using XP have you downloaded the patch for the various GDI leaks MS introduced in its service pack? This helps the OS be a bit more stable. I run in "Best Performance Mode" which does not need this correction. Less pretty colors and themes but it works for me.
