It is 'heavy' or TOWARDS the probe's 'starting' position when it goes to make the touch. If you have a sheet metal part, sitting of a fixture, it simulates a feeler check, + means the part is away from the fixture, or that you can put in the nominal feeler check amount + the T value.sigpic

Assuming that the surface normal vector is pointing away from the surface on which the nominal point lies, a positive value of T means that the material is too “high” while a negative value of T means that the material is too “low”.
