  • TRUE POSITION FROM HOLE PATTERN

    I have 6 .2500 holes that make up datum -D-
    I have 2 .1250 holes with a true position of .005 MMC from -D-
    What is the best way to create an origin point from the 6 .2500 holes

      I'd construct a circle from the 6 circles(holes). Make that an origin. Dimension location (TP) from there.
      When in doubt, post code. A second set of eyes might see something you missed.

        I agree with John, center of the best fit circle as origin. Just watch out for rotation. If it is diametral TP you may need a rotation feature.

          the holes are in a rectangular pattern not circular

            You can always do a 2D best fit using all 6, or construct a feature set from them and use the mathmatical center as the origin.

                  Cool that seems to work
                  i created a constructed set which came up as scan1
                  then i used scan1 as x y zero in new alignment
                  thanks again
