  • 3.7MR3 Issues

Hello, this board has been a great tool that I've used many times as a new user so thanks to all who post and answer questions We are having a issue with 3.7mr3, we just switched over and ocassionally and seemingly at random when you open or close a program PCD just completly shuts down. Anyone else having this problem and if so have you found a solution or a cause. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Robert

Did you 'migrate' these programs up from an older version? I can not say for sure, but there HAVE been issues in the past with Pcdmis not liking programs written in older versions, things like TP dimensions not working right, but I can not say of my own knowledge. I do NOT migrate programs, they stay in the version they were written in. Jobs do not stay here a long time (construction, not production) so I can keep the programs in the native version without too much trouble. Production shops don't have this ability. So, no real help, but possibility an insight.

Yes they were migrated. We tend to keep jobs a very long time here. All of these programs were brought up from 3.5mr2 and some from the version previous to that.

      Thanks,

        Robert,

        Welcome first of all!

Second, what do you mean "shut down" exactly? Do you get an error message and it blows you out of pcdmis altogether? Does it freeze?

I'm currently working with tech support on a problem with 3.7mr3 myself (coming from 3.5mr2) where writing a program and going to measure my first point after alignments freezes dmis up and I must crtl/alt/delete and start over...every time. They cannot help me on the phone after a day of trying so I'm now to write a program, turn on the debug log, execute the program and get it to fail, then email the program, cad, log to them and they'll have the BIG GUNS take a look see.

But thanks to Matt H., I loaded 3.7mr3 into it's own folder and preserved 3.5mr2 so I am not dead in the water.

If anything, keep us informed as to the outcome/solution. We all learn from these boards!!!

Basically I just get kicked out of PCD and have to restart the software, the computer stays running fine. Its fairly random too, you could open and close the same program 10 times and nothing happen. Then the next time is will kick you out. Its not like there's any consistency to it. Thanks for all you replys hopefully we can figure something out.

            Enhancements

That's just one of the great features they added after 3.2063. It's called the "random boot"! LMAO

Try setting your computer to max performance. This seems to fix the problem.

I've had problems with older versions just like Matt has, but I agree with Jim. It sounds like your computer sucks. May need to add memory or clean it out. Check your resource while it is running.

I have migrated 200 programs from from back as far as version 3.5mr2 and had no problems.but what i do is copy the pcdmis folder to the hard drive.then rename it withe version number in front of the name. then install the newer version overtop of the older version this has always worked for me untill version 4.0. currentlly using 3.7 mr3 with no problems. but we do not have cad files to work with

oh i forgot that way if version does not work for i can just change the paths or delete the entire new version. and go back to the older version by renaming it at just requires dleting the the version number off the front of the folder name.
