Do you have a combination air dryer and air filter on your air lines?

You may have water/oil coming through your air lines.

What's your table material? I presume granite?

A stain is not really abnormal.

HOWEVER, it can also be an indication that you have too much liquids in your air lines (can be water, but also some compressors leave an oil mist in the air). Do you have an air dryer hooked up? Do you keep the filters clean? Do you have a liquids trap on the incoming air line and do you clean it out regularly?

If you do all that, it is probably harmless. Make it a point to either turn off the air before you go home, or park the machine in a different location every night. That will make sure the stain won't get any worse.

I would say... If you let it sit in an unstained area and the area becomes stained that you have water or oil in your air. If the stain goes away it is probably water. If it seems to stay, probably oil. I would think that you would see it in all the bearings eventually. I would make sure you have adequate filtration and drying at any rate. The cost of those is good insurance against future more expensive problems.

Is it a black streak or an overall stain the size of the airbearing?

Ask to have a large clear water trap put in the Air Line. Put it in a visable location. So you can see the condesation build up before there is trouble.
