What is the best method of emailing progams and CAD files? Zipping? Changing the filename extension? I'm trying to send a prg file and it won't go through the customers server.

Zip them or change the name, it is the PRG extension that is being blocked by the customer.

Embed them in a word document.

Alot depends on the server your trying to send it to. If they have a filter preventing certain types of files from coming thru. Might want to make sure it can be delivered. Just a thought.

If they are large files, use an FTP site. Sometimes large files will time out an email system.

You can upload it to another site, then have your customer download it, an example of one of these free services shown below.

I've had the most luck zipping them. That way all the file extensions stay the same.

Check with your IT people. Your customer's domain may need permission through your firewall. I've had that problem a few times.

Many companies have this one blocked as well. Ours does. There have been many virusses pushed behind fire walls because of yousendit.

                    FTP site works best.

How about using winrar? I use this one all the time and most of my customers do as well. I am seeing more and more people using it. I archives just like a zip file, but maybe easier and I haven't seen a e-mail filter or firewall block it yet. Plus you can password protect them really easy and even create self-extracting files.

It's free by the way too.

I've always zipped my programs. Haven't had any problems yet.

You could just tell em' to write their own [email protected] programs!
