  • Getting XSTATS11 & STATTEMP missing error messages

    I get an error message stating that the XSTATS11.TMP and STATTEMP.TMP files are in use by another process or could not be found, the message happens towards the end of my program during execution.

    The two files exsisted in the PCDMIS directory, so I deleted them both Windows did not give me a message that they were still in use. Also both files were empty. Since then Ive restarted my computer and Im going to give it another shot.

    Anyone have any more ideas?

    Thanks

    That's a tuff one. This might get you on track to trouble shoot it.

      My experience has been more than not it's a windows issue.
      I believe the re-start will correct the problem

        Restarting didnt help.

        I think the error message starts as soon as it gets to my first dimension.

          Attached are the error messages Im getting.

          One is something about a buffer underrun message... I think this one comes up first but is then followed by the second one which repeats alot, then the last message pops up, and then PCDMIS dies.

            Can you post the code where you start saving stats?

              The version of pcdmis you are using would be helpful. The profile says 4.0 - is that correct? Did this used to work and now it is failing? If yes - do you know what has changed? Computer, OS, version? The more information the better chance for a resolution. A buffer overrun is not a good thing. Would need to look at your part program to see what could be happening.

                I guess I just figured it out. It didnt like the folder name I was trying to save my stats to. It had spaces in the name, so I made a new one with a different name, and its working like normal again.

                  Could you give your example which failed so I could try some things?

                    sample failing code

                    Code:
                                Stats/on,datapage,$
                                Directory=d:\dp\my_data\xc-98\28l\32pcs Ppap Cav2 Layout,$
                                Directory=,$
                                Read=10,write=20,mempages=64,dimension Name,controlcalc Off,$
                                Stats/end
                    The folder name was the problem.

                    Created a new folder with a shorter name without spaces like "new1" and everything works fine now.

                    I suspect by now I should know better.

                    The code actually doesnt fail until it gets to the first dimension in the program.

                    Also I'm using v4.1

                      As far as the naming convention of your folders is concerned, you could just use a large umbrella name like I do. What I mean is, we have numerous customers(like most of you do) e.g. Harley, Kohler, Kawasaki, Cummins etc. etc.. Make a folder for each customer and then using tracefields and variable sets you can streamline your SPC process. Any more info don't hesitate to ask.

                          I should add, don't forget to change the name at the top of your program where it says "program name". Because if you have an alignment program(PART_A_ALIGN) that you open and then "save as" a new part program name(PART_A_OP10), the name at the top will stay as "PART_A_ALIGN" until you change it to "PART_A_OP10". The name at the top is how you keep track of specific part programs within one database. Don't mean to insult anyone's intelligence, but just wanted to make it clearer.
