  • User Friendly CAD

    Hello,
Is anyone familiar with a simple CAD package that could manipulate origin location on CAD files, i.e; stp, IGES, etc. to be used so as to program the CMM in PC-DMIS?
    Thanks

PCDMIS V4.0 and greater will allow you to "transform" your origin without having to use a cad software...

          In V4.0 . . .

In version 4.0 it is pretty simple. Find the cad nominals (X,Y&Z values) of the feature you want to "transform" your origin to by using the auto circle, edge point, etc... Go to Operation --> Graphics Display Window --> Transform. Enter the opposite X,Y&Z values in the boxes and click on apply. Depending on the rotation of your cad model you may also need to rotate the cad model. There are also other options (which I really haven't played with), such as Keep Original and Create New Coordinate system. It's pretty simple once you've done it a few times.

I do it all the time using Transform, as discussed above.

            Works great.

Previous to 4.0, I think Make 3D is the route.
