  • 2D vs. 3D - Any thoughts?

At my current (new) place of employment the only CAD files we get are 2D. I've only used 3D in the past, but I was wondering if any of you experts had any thoughts on this. I guess it's better than nothing, but it does seem to be incomplete and more work than it needs to be.

PS - Glad to be back....

Yeah, 3-D is the way to go, unless what you are checking is only 2-D. If your cad file has top/side/plan/front/whatever views and then YOU have to put it into 3-D, YUCK. It is just laziness on the designer, probably dosen't know HOW to do 3-D would be my guess. 3-D is actually easier to create then 2-D, as far as I am concerned. In fact, I'll bet that a 3-D model is going through someones PC and is being changed into 2-D before you see it.
