Anybody heard on a release date for 4.2? The longer we are in 4.1, the more work arounds that have to be developed. If this keeps up much longer, thinking of dropping back own to 3.7mr3. TIA
Any word on 4.2?

Don't assume that 4.2 will solve the problems of 4.1. The new versions have their own unique set of problems. I have benn playing with 4.2 when time has permitted, and it seems pretty nice. I only have two problems with it at the moment that will hopefully be worked out prior to release. The first one is that when you save back to an earlier version the probe files do not follow with (they get eaten by 4.2, useable only in 4.2, I have made copies of my probes and called them**x** _42 prior to exiting 4.1 and opening 4.2. the other problem I have been seeing is a problem with auto-feature depth settings, I can't get them to work via a double click. These issues have been related to WILCOX and should be fixed prior to release?sigpic

Thanks James. Good to hear that 4.2 has some potential. We have several progammers here that have tried 4.1 only to become so frustrated, they have since dropped back to 3.7mr3 and I'm about to join the ranks.
4.1 is kinda like trying to drink an ugly girl pretty, but I do not think there is enough beer to make 4.1 good looking.Comment

I have very few problems with 4.1. What is happening that you don't like, or have as a problem?sigpic

We could create quite a lengthy list from all our programmers, but here are a few of the complaints: Prehit/retract defaults back to 2.5mm even after it is changed, considerable time used (at least 15 minutes) when importing larger cad files, printing simple text files-ours can exceed 60meg without any pictures-worthless, when search paths are set, they will not stay and of course minimal nominal changes. These are just a few of the issues we have been having. Hopefully some of these issues will be addressed in 4.2Comment

Have you benn in contact with tech support (not the DMIS board)? I remember reading about some of your issues, but I didn't have an answer for you so I didn't respond.sigpic

I suspect 4.2 wont be released until sometime early next year, but dont expect it on Jan 1st that would be too obvious.
Dont forget they need to give everyone a chance to renew their SMAs before next years annual major release.
But I'll be downloading 4.2 the first chance I get, and like everyone else hoping for the best.Mr. Comment
