  • Dimensions changing.

Ok folks....here is a problem that has just cropped up and I have no clue what is going on.

We have some parts that come in for a diameter measurement before plating and then they go out for plating and then back in for measurement.

We have 3 programmers writing programs and I use the program by operator "b" to measure this part.

When operator "b" runs his own program, the values for the measured diameter are in his report and those last values in his saved program are what I see when I call up his program.

When I run his program and the program finishes what I usually see are the "new" measured values displayed in the report window.

Imagine my surprise this morning when the parts came in after plating and I call up operator "b" program and run the part. The report window reports exactly the same value as the saved values from the last time the owner of the program ran the program.

I close the report window and open the command window and the correct values are at the bottom of the command window. I close the command window and reopen the report window and now the correct values are displayed.

Is there a toggle somewhere that may have been reset that prevents the report window from automatically updating to the new measured values?

I shut everything down and restarted PCDMIS. I went into the operator "b" directory and opened the program and saved it into my directorey and ran the program again. I ran it with the report window active and when it completed the window again had the old values in it and they stayed until I closed the report window and opend the command window and then closed the command window and reopened the report window.

Any ideas on what is going on????

    Thanks

What version Hilton? I had a similar problem with values not updating in 3.7MR2, but it seemed to only happen with programs that had been writen originally in 3.5 and 3.7MR3 completely sloved the problem. Kind of a shot in the dark. HTH

Run the program in operator mode, or you have to after the program is ran click on last execution report mode in the toolbar to get the last values updated.

online mode is for programming, not really to run programs.

          Same problem

I have the same problem with pc-dmis cad 4.0. When I need to update the report window I need to go File-Close, then open the program again, then go to the report window and refresh to see the changes. I am still new with dmis but I dont think I had this problem when it was installed at first time. I suspect one of the windows updates causing the problem. Any ideas?

Does that program use an iterative alignment? That is the only time I have seen that happen to me.

Yes it does use an iterative alignment. Point is I have been checking those parts for at least 3 years and all of a sudden it starts to act up today.

The only thing different that I can think of is is I am fooling around with a dual monitor setup trying to get it set up the way I want and it has been more thana little frustrating...

When in doubt, post code. A second set of eyes might see something you missed.

We never use OPERATOR mode, absolutely everything (100%) is done ONLINE. Operator mode is for use when you have people who know JUST ENOUGH to be dangerous but not enough to do the job.

LMAO, well in my defense after reading the calibrate with gage blocks thread and not having been in this forums for very long, I have no idea the ability of everyone. No offense intended................

Good to hear from you Hilton. Sorry no help from me (the peanut gallery).

Don't ask me how it happened.....I do not know. What was not working is now working. I played around with my set up icon and reset up my display the way I like it and ran the program as I have been doing for many cases of Heineken and Amber Bock and now all is good and I have not touched a drop of liquid refreshment except coffee.

I cannot fathom how this all happened. I will be leaving early today to check back into the group home..........
