I have V3.7mr3 and want to know if I can create a sectioned view in CAD. If so, do I need to create a viewset at the beginning of the program so I can recall the viewset to see the full CAD model later in the program?

    Dwade,

Look under the new icons up top for CAD lighting. Then click the tab for CLIP PLANES. Click ENABLE, then control the IJK perp to the section you want to cut. Then you can put in something for the MOVE CLIPPING PLANES numbers. These numbers control how big a step you take when you increment your section. Hit apply and you should have a section cut through your CAD model. Play with it a bit. It may not be exactly what you're looking for, but it's the best we have for cutting sections within PCDmis at the moment.

Haven't done much with this but I think you might try creating levels?
What Bill said about clipplanes is partly correct. The only thing I noticed about clipplanes is once you undo a clipped plane it is like that for the rest of the program. So, you can't make viewsets that include a screenshot with one clipped plane and then have another with a different clipped plane.

But strictly for programming I can use clips planes to see what I need then just reload the CAD file.

        Yes?

You don't even have to reload the cad. Just click RESTORE SYSTEM DEFAULT and your CAD model is back where you started.
