how many times did you experience PC DMIS shut-down?

Just 2 weeks has passed since I purchased this global Advantage.
But still suffering from its shut-down during measurement.
At least I got 5 times a day. Hmm...

I too have an Advantage Global, it started out the first month or so I could run it at 100% through the few programs I wrote for it. But now it seems like its one error after another. I have been lowering my bars to almost half with plans to actually go into the program and decrease it to 75% movespeed and see how that runs. Its aggravating, especially for the operators on the other shifts to get errors that are different than what they are used to seeing with ver 3.5, now they either get a box that is completely white, even the drop downs are empty or an error that doesn't explain what happened very well. Sometimes the machine gets locked up where we have to completely shut the controller off and restart, other times we can just cancel and go back to that line it was last reading and start from there. Its harder for them as some are newer operators and its not easy to figure out what should be done. i feel for them, but I too had to learn to get through it by trying different things. You would think that when you buy a new machine that you should be able to run it full bore for a year or two before having to slow it down.

What type of tips are you using? Are you keeping them clean? Dirt & Dust are big factors in the reading for those new SP modules. They need to have the glass readers cleaned regulary along with the electrods next to the glass reader. Maybe I should double check ours out myself to make sure the operators are cleaning them, maybe this could be part of our problems too(?)

On this board you will get correct answers very fast from my brethren. But, when posting a question, please include the version of software, type of computer, type of machine and anything else that could help us solve the problem at hand. Upon doing this, we can assess your problem and get it fixed hopefully very soon. We are a group of people who use this software every day and if we can't figure it out you might want to call mensa.

i also have the same problem as Vondy. we have pc-dmis v4.0 global. but i notice if i do some major editing the program will lock up on me. so now i same the file as a new name. then, when the drop down menu starts to look empty what i do is close the program (just the file) and reopen it. that usually helps me out.

I would download version 4.1 asap, 80% of my programming fatal errors disappeared. v4.1 is a lot stabler than v4.0. I was ready to go back to floor inspection I was so 'F'*n POed with v4.0

We have Alpha CMM for about a year.
We had problem with PC D-MIS shutting down as many as ten times a 9 hr shift.
Eventually rendered the machine useless.
We seemed to have fixed the problem by downloading the hotfix for Windows XP SP2 and installing it.
But we found that was not enough, we had to delete the PC D-MIS settings too.
I would suggest right after installing the hotfix, before opening PC D-MIS
We have had only one shutdown in the two months since.

By the way, I've been told by B & S that 4.2 will be out by year end.
