  • Need footer of info at bottom of each page

HELP! I need a footer at the end of each page with info, i.e. Partname, time and date stamp and page number. I have tried inputing it into the standard TEXTONLY.rtp at the bottom of the report as added text and it works fine as long as the report is in 'Textmode' if I switch to the graphics mode it messes up any True Position FCF that has been used. It seems to overlay the output with a blank area instead of the labels assigned. I have tried to add a 'footer' label with the same results. Any time I make ANY change to the original TEXTONLY.RTP it messes up the graphics portion of the output. HELP!

I bet you are using the new 4.1 version!!
I can not be of any help, but I feel your pain. I gave up on 4.1 for now, I didn't have time to mess with the glitches I was having. I like a lot of the new options, but it is very time consuming trying to get things to work properly. I am sure it is all operator error, but I just don't have time to mess with it. When/if things slow down, and I have time to mess with calling tech support, I will try again. In the mean time I am back at 3.7mr2.

Neal, If you stay at 3.7 at least download the 3.7mr3 version. It gets rid of a few more bugs. Best version since 3.2063 in my book. 4.1 isn't that far away.

eperwin, perhaps you could supply a screen capture of what you're experiencing. I'm having a hard time visualizing what's happening.

Yes, this is a bug. I reported it on October 13. That was a Friday, by the way. Hexagon has told me that it has been fixed as of October 24th per Hexagon PR# 244102.

Will be corrected in V4.2 for sure. Maybe soon in V4.1B. It is NOT corrected in my 4.1R version as of October 30th. Can't wait, can't wait can't wait.... but then again...

            eperwin and Jan,

Thanks for the description in the PR you mentioned Jan. I now understand this problem. It doesn't look like it has been fixed in 4.1 beta yet, but I did verify it is functioning properly in 4.2 beta.

I *think* I found a workaround in 4.1 Release though. It's a little extra work, but it seems to work on my end, and it's a sight better than loading in textonly.rtp from a backup all the time. Hopefully it will work for you as well.
            Here's what I did.
            1. Ensure that you have an original, unmodified textonly.rtp.
            2. Load the textonly.rtp into the Report Template Editor.
            3. Now, instead of modifying the original textonly.rtp file, select File | Save As and create a copy with a new name.
            4. Make modifications to this new copy, save it, and then load it into the Report window.
            5. In the Reporting toolbar, click the Add Template to Toolbar icon to save this report template to the toolbar.
            6. Now the important part. Before you close PC-DMIS, switch back to the original textonly.rtp file in your Report window.
            7. And when you restart PC-DMIS, first load the textonly.rtp file in the Report window. Do this before switching to the modified template in the Reporting toolbar.
            Good luck.

Jared, that is EXACTLY how I get around the issue. But this is quite cumbersome, so I reverted to the original textonly.rtp and stuck with it. I guess I have to wait until 4.2... Can't come fast enough therefore.

Thanks guys, I am at home right now but I will try this tomorrow when I get to work. To tell the truth, I am not too sure what sub-version of 4.1 I am running. I was told it is 4.1+. Still I will try tomorrow and see what happens.
