  • slotted hole problem

I am having a problem measuring a slotted hole properly. The problem I am having is that the hole is slotted in both directions.

hopefully the picture has atatched to better illustrate what i mean. Is this a problem as it does measure the hole, however can i trust the results?

You can use a square slot, and specify a 'corner radius' to avoid hits on the corners.

thanks, that certainly works. shows the position of the hole anyway.

I will use the square slot option on LONG round slots, it gives better results. If the radius at either end of the round slot is even microscopically 'messed up', you get bogus 'width' (diameter) values. You simply use round slot to 'get' the feature, then change it to square slot, and tweak the corner radius as needed. Won't work on short round slots, but it does give much better (more correct) results for long ones.
