  • My probe qualification test

    I just calibrated my probe tips, ran the probe qualification test I made and the deviation seems high to me. Is this normal and can anyone see anything wrong with the way I am doing it? [code]PART NAME : sphere probe test

    I see most of the deviation is in the Z axis.
    Do you have any idea why?
    Lately, it occurs to me
    What a long, strange trip it's been.

      Very good for TP2
      So so for TP20/TP200
      Could be better if you’re using analog probe

      Instead of PNT1, Origin, DCC, SPH1, I would start out with DCC, SPH1 with one sample hit, start angle 2=15, end angle 2=90, origin. Re-measure the sphere with the same tip, start angle 2=0, end angle 2=90, with no sample hit, origin.

      Just my .02


      Edit: 7 points, 2 levels is good enough in my opinion

        I have no idea why right after calibration there is so mutch deviation in the Z axis.

          I am actually using a SP600 scanning probe head. I wish this thing had a TP200 on it.

              After your Dcc SPHERE and your alignment to that , do another sphere and create 1 more alignment to use a 0 / 0 / 0 fot the rest of our probes. This refinement of your alignment may get you a little better#'s ? Sorry missed DungT's post

                First thing to look at is......

                WHAT are your machine specs? Never, ever expect anything better than the base machine specs.

                  Those #'s actually look pretty decent. If you see more than your machine specs there is a problem.

                    I did end up adding the additional sphere and aligned to it and the numbers did change and for the better, thanks.

                      We have a global image machine with a sp600 on it. I was unable to find the spec for it or atleast anything layman enough for me to understand.

                        Aside from the OP question...

                        You have no rotations in your alignments.
                        Sphere or not, ya' needa rotate every time you level.

                        Use an Alignment line, Generic line, whatever...
                        But you must rotate to something, even if it's fake.

                          Good spot - or in this case don't bother levelling - simply origin xyz in the sphere.
