  • Another CAD problem in 4.1

Anyone had this happen to them? I was building a program using CAD and all was going good until; I got to the “nose” portion of the part. I would click on it for an “AUTO VECTOR POINT” and I would get a message that I was missing the surface. I rotated the CAD, I zoomed in on the CAD, I did all I could think of and still nothing. I decided to try an “AUTO PLANE” and it worked just fine. So I went in and retried the “AUTO VECTOR POINT” and as long as I left it at the plane center I was fine but I could not chose any where else on the nose of the part.

Sometimes on a curved surface you need to rotate the model so that it looks like you're looking at a 3D map from about a 20° to 30° angle.

        Alright try this,

Go to EDIT>>GRAPHICS DISPLAY WINDOW>> LIGHTING MATERIALS... and go to cut plane. Cut the part such that you can see the curved surface on edge and then with the CAD model turned so that the curved surface looks like either a U or an upside down U and try to take the point? This same issue was found in 3.7mr3 at times.
