  • exporting?

A customer of mine has lost some data & would like me to export out the 3D model from my PC DMIS program, but I don't know how to do it. When I try to export something all I get are the point from the program. I'm using PC DMIS 4.1. I am hoping someone can tell me how to do it. Thanks

All you can do is send him the *.CAD file that you have. Pcdmis will NOT export any IMPORTED IGES data, only measured data. You will need to know what version of Pcdmis he is using, then save you program BACK to that version, then just send him the .CAD file.

That sucks because they want the data for Solidworks not PC DMIS

that's because PCDEEMIS IS NOT A CAD SYSTEM. which sucks sometimes. it only reads the cad model so you to pick vectors from it.

YEP, Pcdmis is NOT a cad software, it is a software that USES cad data. The distinction may not be much, but it is a VERY deep chasm.

            OH, a possible solution:

Do an off-line scan of the cad data you have and send them that, using about 0.010" increment and step-over. Have it generate the nominals, the create it. In offline mode, execute the scans then export that data. They will have to re-create the part, but it will give them data.

Stupid question, but did you delete the cad data that he presented to you the first time in the form of igs or stp?
