pcdmis and open dmis

Can anyone tell me the difference between the pcdmis and the opendmis. i have the open dmis software

does open-dmis work with a portlock/dongle? just wondering

can we openly download the open-dmis versions?

Open DMIS is a product sold by Xpect Solutions. It is a COMPLETELY different piece of software. It has nothing to do with PC-DMIS (which is sold by Hexagon).

The only similarity between the 2 packages is that they can write and read DMIS code. And they are only relatively good at that...

By the way: Hexagon completely OWNS the PC-DMIS development and release chain (they bought Wilcox Assocs; Bill Wilcox being the leader there). Xpect, however, does NOT own their software development. They have a marketing and sales contract with the developer of this software (is Denny He still the main guy there?).

PC-Dmis does not do well at all with any type of DMIS Code. It takes just about as long to edit imported DMIS code as it does to simply rewrite the program all over. While it is nice software, it should be called something other than DMIS
