  • Portlock/password?

Ok. I recently found out that I could upgrade one version on my old SMA. The new version is asking for 2 passwords for my portlock. I have 4 passwords from the installation of the current version I am running. When I try to use the first two of those or any combination there of I get a wrong hasp attached error. How big a deal is going to be to get the passwords from B&S since my SMA expired in 02? The way I look at it is I paid for those passwords and the upgrade under my last SMA. B&S never sent me the latest version my SMA was good for or notify me that I could have upgraded. I just don't want to get into a big deal like doberman went through getting his new portlock.

    Portlock/password?

You won't know until you try.

If you can, go through your local rep and let them deal with B&S for you. B&S will likely treat you like a pee-on. Your local rep has more pull with B&S and they are the ones that will appreciate and work for your future bussiness. I'd try that first then B&S as a last resort.

Has anyone else ever had it ask for a password when upgrading? I have never had it ask me for one.

The passwords come into play when you are activating or deactivating a module, like Pro-E or Gears. At least that is what the tech who just certified my machine told me 2 days ago.

I need to get new passwords at least 50% when upgrading. Hasp driver & Tech 80 interface always seem to be an issue when upgrading.

Well went about like I expected. Surprise surprise 3.25 needs some software exe.file when upgrading from 3.2063. Which the customer service rep told me she would try to get for me but she didn't sound optimistic because I don't have a current SMA. However she is sending me a quote on updating my SMA and if I do that then all will be well and I can upgrade to any version I want. HMMM I thought that was what my last SMA was supposed to do. B&S was supposed to send me the latest updates which didn't happen. I also paid under my last SMA to be able to run 3.25 so why can't I get the passwords to let me run it?

Keep fighting it! If you paid your SMA up to be able to use 3.25 they should provide you with the ability to run 3.25 without having to pay more.

He's probably washing dishes in Hexagon's caffeteria right now.

Is that a misspelling? Shouldn't the "sh" be a "ck"?

What he does for an SMA is his bussiness.

Not only did they not hook me up I didn't even receive the quote for the updating of my SMA. I was supposed to receive the quote by fax that day and then get back to customer relations and see if she could get me the exe file. I have not had time to call back as we were in the middle of our ISO audit. We all know how fun ISO audits can be. LOL

Why should they bother to call him back? He is clearly a small time customer from a small shop that does not have tons of cash lying about to fork over every year. You can bet all the guys who get quick answers work for large corporations and they have several SMAs, all of which are always kept current.
