    Hood morning fellas, I have a problem

    I want to create an L-shape probe, I only need 1 probe at A90B180, no others is that doable or do I have to create a tip at A0B0 too?

    You need the 5 way with all the empty holes. Add at least a 10mm ext before that part. Build your probe the way you need it, take care to make sure it is very square to your axes !

    I am not 100% sure if you need a straight down 0,0 tip or not, to be honest, I always have one....

    I bet you will because it will always add 0,0...although, your 90 180 tip will be at 0,0 head angle, so it might work fine, give it a try...I build these types of tips all the time, just never done one without a tip pointing straight down...

      I build it, with only 1 tip A90B180, do I need to add the A90B180 angle? or how do I tell it that I want to use that tip?

        when you define the tip.
        after connect: exten5way
        leave connection #1,2 and 4 empty
        just add the tip to connection #3 or #5
        (I can remember which is 90,180)

          According my conversations with tech support you need a tip in slot 1 (straight down) the 1st time you calibrate.
          You can remove the tip and configuration after it's calibrated once.

            I have never had to add a tip to connection #1.
            As long as the software knows where the tip is you don't need a tip in connection #1.
            In any case how would you remove it without having to recalibrate?


            (The only time that may apply is when calibrating the sphere position.)

                How about this?

                The long numbers on hotspot are the cosines for the probe's angle.

                I measured the angle on paper with the probe near the table and used the comparator to get the right lengths/angles.

                    Add tip angel A90B180, delete A0B0, calibrate A90B180. PC-Dmis knows shank vector of each tip...

                        I am using v2009mr1, it did what I described. Just add A90B180 and delete any other angles that you do not need.

                          when I added the A90B180, it rotated the Head. The other star probe works as it should, but this new L- shape one just doesnt

                            If you are using the star probe then it shouldn’t be a problem, but if you’re using knuckle joint then you have to key in ijk xyz in probe cal edit window. It’s a bit tricky though…

                            Edit: Or you can try Caemgen’s method.
