  • Replace Model?

    Question.
If I have an existing program, and the guys up in engineering decide to change the part, and they say, add features (holes, counterbores etc.) and send me a new updated model, is there a way to "replace" the existing model with the new updated one? It would have the same dimensions, datum structure (same origin), but would just have a few new features added.

Is there an easy way to do this? Or do I just have to re-write my program?

When you import the new model you will have two options to Merge or Replace the existing model. This feature is in ver 3.5 onwards I'm not too sure about older versions

Yep, it is that easy. HOWEVER, Pcdmis will NOT update your program in any way to the new data, that is up to you. There is a function called FIND NOMS that you can use, you run the program in offline mode and it SHOULD find new nominals and vector from the cad data, however, in my experience, it does not work for crap, you are better off updating each point 'by hand'.

As TMiller said, "Backup, backup, backup!"
When in doubt, post code. A second set of eyes might see something you missed.

There is NO SUCH THING as too many back-ups!

My programs get backed up BY ME to a partition on my hard drive every night. They also get backed up by the network server every night as well. Belt and suspenders!
