  • constucting circles on scan lines

I have a part that looke something like an irregular cone. I have scanned up the sides of the part in 3 spots and I need to constuct circles at increments about ever .005 over a 1 inch section. The probelm i am having is creating the circles. I can not even seem to creat points on the scan segments in the areas i am expecting. Am i doing someting wrong?

Can you construct a cone from the lines? You then can construct a diameter from the cone at the heights you need.
When in doubt, post code. A second set of eyes might see something you missed.

Use the "To Points" feature of the scan and make sure you start at the same depth on up. Your points should be level to eachother then change the workplane to what you need to construct the circles.
I used to be high on life but I built up a tolerance.

I use this method often and it works good. IWe have a part and the CMM will match the air gage the company spent thousands of $$ on within a tenth or two.

Can you define what you mean by a "irregular cone"?
Maybe post the CAD if you have it.
