Upgrade help

I am not a PC DMIS user, but I am in charge of all of our computer & networking. My boss recently purchased the 3.7 MR2 upgrade, we are currently running 3.2063 on an older machine with NT 4 SP6. I purchased a new PC with Windows XP so we could upgrade equipment too.

Here is my problem, the old PC has a "large" ISA card that is used to communicate with the CMM machine. My new PC has no ISA slot. I am assuming there should be a newer type PCI card that I should use with my new PC. Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck with anyone knowing how/where or if there is a newer card to use. If someone has done this type of upgrade or knows where I should begin to look I would greatly appreciate your help.

My boss has called regarding this issue, but they have not gotten back with us. I am usually able to find better help from those who have had similar experiences.

CMM manufacturer

I would call the manufacturer of the CMM and/or controller. B&S number is
1-800-343-7933. HTH

You may need an ISA slot to run the CMM and that specific card. I agree you should call B&S.

having just done an upgrade last Nov....I know what you are going through.

we were told there is an ISA card replacement...special order at about $5,000.00

instead we got all new hardware....PC and Controller along with the software

BTW..if you JUST got this upgrade, I would think you would get 3.7 MR3 at the very least, 4.0 is now out as well

I believe it's more than "just a com port"

but if I knew the real/complete answer, I'ld be a service techie with no responsibilities for parts, traveling alot, working longer hours and making the "big bucks" for missing out on my kids growing up...LOL
