  • TP in One Dimension

I have a part with two bores. One of the bores is datum A. The other bore has a TP callout of .005 to A. I have one basic dimension from datum A to the bore.

So, I have measured both of the bores as cylinders and created a line between the two cylinders. I align the y axis to the line, set datum A as X=0, Y=0. When I do the TP of the second bore I get an X position as -.0008?!?

Shouldn't the X position be zero as it was used to create the line used for the alignment?

    TIA

Do you measure each bore in a different leveling (alignment leveling) scenario? Or is the other bore dimensioned in a different leveling scenario than it was measured in? Or are you measuring cylinders?

What type of line, 2-D or 3-D? I'll bet if you made it 2-D first, if you change it to 3-D it will give you the answer you are looking for.

Yep that's another one. It can be done with 2D but the leveling scenario under which you constructed a 2D line will have an effect as well.

          I'll check but I think I did a 3d line.

Ok, It was a 2D line. 3D brought it down to .0000. All is well with the world. Well, as well as it was before I started this project.

THANKS FOR THE SPEEDY SOLUTION GUYS
