  • PCDMIS Upgrade - Auto Mode on RCU

I have a sheffield Discovery II using a Renishaw controller. Just installed v3.7MR3 and I have an issue I'm trying to fix. Before the install of this release, programs ran without having to re-press the auto button. Meaning after my programs end, it did not turn off auto mode on the RCU. Now, it does. Even after going into the settings editor and changing the "SendMNonManual" to "False" it still does this. I wonder if it's been hardcoded into this release? Any help?
I used to be high on life but I built up a tolerance.

Are you sure that you have a Rensihaw controller on a Discovery II, that seems odd? Which Interface DLL are you using? Normally they have the SMP3XX controllers which are mounted on the back of the machine.

Yes I am using a Renishaw PHC10-2 controller on a Sheffeild Discovery II.

        Another controller?

The PHC10-2 is a wrist controller. This does not mean that your machine does (or doesn't, for that matter) have a Renisahw CMM controller.

          Underspec,
Since it is a newer Discovery with PCDMIS, you probably have the SMP 3xx CMM Controller. As pointed out, the controller you mentioned is the Probehead controller.

As far as your problem goes, the machine should not go out of AUTO mode at the end of a program.

Does it do this in all programs?

Yes it does it on all programs. After upgrading from MR1 & MR2 this started happening. It's gotta be some kind of safety enhancement hard coded into this release (MR3). Even changing the SendMNnogoManual setting it doesn't seem to work.

That is not a safety enhancement, that is a pain in the a$$. STI would not work if the CMM turned off the AUTO everytime. PCDMIS has a lousy way of telling you to turn the AUTO on (8 point font in the status bar at the bottom of the screen does not qualify as even adequate).

It is probably a bug. I cant believe that there would be a setting for that.

However, my understanding is that MR3 is still not approved by Sheffield to run on their CMMs. Are you running the correct Interface file?

hey, Brian why dont you speak up on this one??

I don't think it's the interface file. My CMMs ran just fine before I installed MR3 (supposed to be most stable / bug free).

Call Sheffield direct dont call the PCDMIS tech support. Maybe there is a setting for this, but it sounds like a bug. Check with Sheffield to see which version of the DLL you should be using. With the Sheffields it is not always a good idea to use the latest dll off the wilcox website.
